April 2008 - Earthcycle and Innovia Films win the prestigious DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation, recognizing the Earthcycle™ - Natureflex™ Organic Kiwi Package.

October 2007 - Earthcycle and the Oppenheimer Group win the inaugural Impact Award for Sustainability by the Produce Marketing Association (PMA).

Certifications

FDA and CFIA

Earthcycle Packaging products comply with FDA and CFIA requirements for contact with food.

Renewability

We have had our products tested and certified renewable under the ASTM D6866 standard. Earthcycle packaging is made from an annually renewable resource, palm fiber, which is harvested from palm trees. The trees give fruit at least two times per year for up to 20 years.

Ethical Sourcing

The plantation that supplies the crop used in production of our packaging has been assessed by SGS according to definitions established by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

We can assure that the plantation that provides the crop has not converted any environmentally sensitive areas, such as wildlife habitat for endangered species nor cleared forests for the plantation. Read more.

The plantation complies with RSPO defined criteria for responsible agrochemical use and has not expropriated land from communities.

Compostability

Earthcycle packaging products have also successfully passed compostability tests as per ASTM D6400/D6868, the compostability standard for North America.

We have documentation from the laboratory that conducted our ASTM tests to verify that our material can be considered “home” compostable. Our lab reports are an adequate measure until there is a North American certification for home compostability.

Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) Earthcycle packaging has been awarded the BPI compostable logo, certifying that our products are designed to compost quickly, completely and safely, without leaving any plastic residues.

Greener Package Database

Earthcycle has been accepted into the Greener Package Database and has had its sustainability claims reviewed by an authorized third party to assure they are in compliance with the Greener Package Guidelines to Sustainability Claims.
